After the rain, the grip of the Nashville circuit was much less than in the training sessions, however McLaughlin was not dissuaded by the conditions. “The DEX automobile is really great,” he smiled later on. “I won St. Pete with it, I won Mid-Ohio with it and now we’re on pole in Nashville, excellent track!”

Behind McLaughlin and 2nd male Grosjean, Christian Lundgaard can be found in 3rd, verifying his excellent efficiency on Friday. For the Dane it was his finest certifying outcome to date. Beside him is Alex Palou in Ganassi-Dallara-Honda. Pato O’Ward (McLaren SP-Dallara-Chevrolet) and Josef Newgarden (Penske-Dallara-Chevrolet) finished the Firestone Fastest Six.

Championship leader Will Power lost his rate in the 2nd certifying session, which would have taken him into the leading 6, leading to a yellow flag. He now begins 8th. His closest rival Marcus Ericsson didn’t even handle to get previous 18 th on the grid, however he had the ability to win from that position in Nashville in 2015.
